EMMANUELLE BERTRAND – PASCAL AMOYEL

A program of French music for cello and piano, performed by an outstanding duo!

“One of the finest musical glories of France” according to Berlioz, Georges Onslow was admired by both Schumann and Mendelssohn. In his sonatas for piano and cello, the two instruments perform as equal partners, as they do in the sonata by Saint-Saëns. In Duparc’s sonata, the composer’s only chamber music work, hints of the sublime vocal melodies he would later go on to write can be perceived. The latter genre also found in Fauré an excellent proponent.
