Maison Saint-Gabriel presents the re-enactment of a 1673 wedding. An event that marks the 350th anniversary of the arrival of the last Filles du Roy in New France (1673-2023).

You are warmly invited to the wedding of Anne-Marie Vanzègue and Hubert Leroux dit Rousson. The couple will unite on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 2pm under the marquee of the Museum’s site, accompanied by their witnesses

Put on your finest attire to attend the re-enactment of this historic wedding. Anne-Marie Vansègue arrived in Ville-Marie 350 years ago. She was married on November 20, 1673. The Société d’histoire des Filles du Roy recreates the event with costumed characters and explains the steps involved, from the publication of banns to the wedding ceremony.

Join the newlyweds as you learn historical dances with a Danse Cadence host, accompanied by musicians from the Ensemble Claude-Gervaise. A great way to discover the customs and traditions related to marriage at the time of New France.

2023 marks the anniversary of the arrival of the last contingent of King’s Wards. On September 3, 1673, 53 wards disembarked in Quebec in addition to the approximately 700 women who arrived since 1663 to get married.
