A Sweet Christmas

The Botanical Garden is going gourmet for Christmas. Remember all those sweet, tart and explosive flavours of your favourite candies when you were a kid? Their wacky colours and shapes? Vanilla, mint, licorice… Did you know that all those flavours come from plants and, without them, we wouldn’t have any candy?

Come learn all about confectionery plants as you visit an absolutely mouth-watering exhibition that’s sure to appeal to everyone’s sweet tooth. You can admire all the plant spirals, giant lollipops and other green delights arranged around the giant poinsettia Christmas tree!

Candies seeking sweet plants!

Can candies really be made from some sweet plants? A Botanical Garden nature interpreter invites you to find out by tasting various well-known and mystery plant-based substances. You’ll need to put all your other senses to work, too! You’ll see why molasses, maple syrup, agave and stevia are superb candy-making ingredients.
