The Grinch: Film with Live Orchestra

Presented for the first time in Canada, The Grinch: Film with Live Orchestra will be coming to Montreal for one exceptional showing on Sunday, this December 10 at 3:30 pm at Théâtre St-Denis. An audience of all ages is expected in large numbers at this fabulous movie-concert experience, when the classic film featuring the incomparable Jim Carrey is projected on a giant screen and accompanied live by a performance of its wonderful soundtrack – the work of James Horner – by the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières (OSTR).

Canadian conductor Adam Johnson will be leading the OSTR for the occasion. Working for many years at the highest level of the national music scene, this award-winning maestro, recognized for his uncommon versatility, has conducted many concerts to packed houses, from pops to jazz by way of Broadway. He is currently music director of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra as well as the Guelph Symphony Orchestra, and was resident conductor, until 2019, of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.
For the show The Grinch: Film with Live Orchestra, Adam Johnson will be conducting a performance of music by the great James Horner, responsible for the scores to films like Apollo 13, Braveheart, Avatar, and, of course, Titanic and its renowned theme song “My Heart Will Go On” sung by Céline Dion. For this show, the Oscar-winning composer’s score will be played in its entirety during the screening of the film — original version, with French sub-titles — creating a family moment that combines the enchantment of Christmas with the magic of the movies and symphonic music, and launching the winter festivities season in an especially beautiful way!
