España

Querida España! Dear Spain! This dreamy European country that has captured our hearts with its monuments, its culture, its gastronomy, its sunshine!

It is also the adopted country of our chef and artistic director, Alexandre Da Costa. Although Québécois in his deepest soul, Alexandre feels viscerally Iberian since he lived there for nearly two decades and maintains very close artistic and personal ties there. Alexandre became so “Spanish” over the years that he was recognized there as one of the most fervent ambassadors of Spanish and Portuguese classical music.

The Longueuil Symphony Orchestra, with conductor and violinist Alexandre Da Costa, Sevillian classical singer Ana Belén Cadaval, flamenco guitarist Caroline Planté, and classical guitarist Alexandre Éthier, invites you to a concert burning with passion, sure to make Montreal vibrate to the rhythm of a typically Iberian symphonic flamenco — a rare event not to be missed! But we must warn you: this concert may provoke a sudden urge to set sail for Spain!

Repertoire
Works by Rodrigo, de Falla, Albéniz, and others.

The Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil is the 4th largest symphony orchestra in Quebec. For 35 years, professional musicians have provided diverse musical performances and forged unique ties with the public. The Orchestra’s mission, among other things, is to provide the population with music of optimal quality, accessible to all audiences. Through their actions and artistic performances, their goal is to demystify so-called “classical” music so that spectators can get closer to the “ music”. A mission of democratization of classical music.
