From Russia with Love

Dmitri Shostakovich’s masterful Concerto for Piano and Trumpet is the cornerstone of this unusual recital that showcases the trumpet’s full potential. In addition to this work evoking Beethoven, Grieg, Mahler, and Haydn, other gems from the piano and trumpet repertoire by Shostakovich and his circle of friends and students will be presented. A unique opportunity to hear the duo of trumpet and piano with Paul Merkelo, OSM’s Principal Trumpet.
