The Commonwealth’s sharpest comedic talents are coming to this year’s festival for Brit(ish), hosted by Gina Yashere, starring Aisling Bea, Joe Lycett, James Acaster, Seann Walsh, and featuring special guest Sarah Millican. You’ll laugh so hard, the Queen on your money will silently judge you for being so improper. Gina Yashere Gina is a returning festival favourite, and has been a stand up and TV star in the UK for several years. She appeared on iconic TV shows such as Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, as well as The Lenny Henry Show. She broke onto the American comedy scene with appearances on Last Comic Standing, where she made it to the final 10, and then never went home! She is also known in the US for being the only British comedian to ever appear on the iconic Def Comedy Jam. She has also been seen on The Tonight Show, Crashing, @midnight on Comedy Central , and her one hour stand-up special on Showtime, Skinny B*tch. She recently shot her 3rd stand-up special, Gina Yashere: Ticking Boxes. She went on to be named as one of the top 10 rising talents in the Hollywood Reporter. Gina has performed for audiences around the world and numerous times at JFL. For the 4th time in a row, she was awarded for “Best Comedian” at the recent Black Entertainment & Comedy Awards (UK). Sarah Millican Sarah Millican is an award-winning stand-up comedian and writer. Since winning the 2008 if.comedy Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Sarah has fast-established herself as a household name. In 2013 she was also nominated for the British Comedy Awards Best Female TV Comic for the fourth time. In the autumn of 2010 she embarked on her first national tour, Chatterbox, which completely sold out and in March 2011 announced her second national tour, Thoroughly Modern Millican, which sold over 190,000 tickets. Spring 2014 saw Sarah complete her third sold-out national tour, Sarah Millican: Home Bird. Her fourth tour, Outsider, was also a sell-out and concluded in September 2016. In 2014 Sarah started Standard Issue, an online magazine for women. Sarah is currently writing her debut book, which is due to be released in October 2017. Joe Lycett One of the best-loved performers currently working on the UK circuit, Joe is a rising comedy star with bundles of stage presence and effortless charm. Joe, a 2016 Chortle Award winner for ‘Best Show’, has progressed rapidly since making his stage debut at the Manchester Comedy Store in 2008. Joe’s television appearances include performing stand-up on BBC1’s Live At The Apollo and on ITV’s Sunday Night At The Palladium, as well as regularly starring on panel shows such as Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown. In 2015, Joe was confirmed as the new host of BBC Radio 4’s long-running panel show It’s Not What You Know, and 2017 will see him hosting Comic Relief on BBC1. His two first shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival were a huge hit, selling out their full runs and securing Joe a Foster’s Comedy Award Best Newcomer nomination. He returned to Edinburgh in 2015 with That’s The Way, A-Ha, A-Ha. He toured the show around the UK in 2016, winning the Chortle Award for Best Show and eventually releasing it on DVD. James Acaster James Acaster is one of the most brilliant and distinctive young comedians of his generation. A whimsical master, he has received acclaim from around the world, including a record breaking 5 consecutive nominations for ‘Best Comedy Show’ at the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festivals and winning the 2015 Chortle Award for Best Show, and Best International Show Award at the 2014 New Zealand International Comedy Festival. On the small screen James has graced the likes of Live At The Apollo, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week, and The John Bishop Show, to name a few. As an actor James has completed two of his own television projects including a 15-part music show, Sounds Random, which is currently available to stream on BBC Three and his very own sitcom pilot We The Jury based on his 2015 solo stand-up show, Represent which aired this past fall on BBC Two. Seann Walsh Charming, charismatic and a natural motor mouth, Seann is the most frighteningly precocious talent to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in ages. He is team captain of Channel 4 and E4’s Virtually Famous and a regular on ITV’s Play To The Whistle. His other TV appearances include: ITV’s Jonathan Ross Show and Tonight at The London Palladium, ITV 2’s Celebrity Juice, Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, and Comedy Central’s Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central Seann is also an incredible actor having starred in Sky’s silent comedy, Three Kinds of Stupid as well as creating his own web series The Drunk. His debut DVD, Seann Walsh: Seann to be Wild, was recorded at Hammersmith Apollo and did brilliantly when it was released in 2013 by Universal Pictures. Aisling Bea Aisling is an award-winning stand-up comedian, writer and actor. In 2012, she won So You Think You’re Funny?, and since then she’s become one of the most in-demand performers in UK and Irish comedy. She won the British Comedy Award for Best Female TV Comic in 2014, and was nominated for the Fosters Comedy Award for Best Newcomer in 2013. Her shows, C’est La Bea and 2015’s Plan Bea were a major hit, and sold out. She also established herself on television; you can regularly see her on BBC 1, BBC 3 and Channel 4. In 2016, she starred alongside Gillian Anderson in Season 3 of award-winning BBC2 crime drama The Fall.
