Pianist Daniil Trifonov will perform Schumann’s Piano Concerto

The Orchestre Symphonique de Montrealer 2024-2025 season gets underway from September 11 to 13 at 7:30pm at the purpose-built Maison Symphonique. The concert hall was designed to meet the acoustical requirements of our world-class symphony orchestra and choral groups.

Rafael Payare will continue his exploration of Schoenberg’s works with a monument of the post-Romantic repertoire: the Gurre-Lieder. 155 musicians, 6 soloists, 120 chorists, will celebrate Schoenberg’s 150th anniversary of birth. Opening Night is always a special event, and the September 11 concert promises to be a special occasion.

Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique: September 18 at 7:30pm and September 19 at 10 :30am. Renowned pianist Daniil Trifonov returns in a performance of Schumann’s eloquent and passionate Piano Concerto (September 18th only). Schumann composed this music as a tribute to his wife Clara. Berlioz dedicated his Symphonie Fantastique to Harriet Smithson with whom he was hopelessly smitten.

Payare to conduct Berlioz and Beethoven: September 19 at 7:30pm. Daniil Trifonov will perform Beethoven’s masterful Piano Concerto no. 1

By popular demand, film concerts are back this season. Spielberg’s JAWS will take to the big movie screen on September 25 at 7:30pm. Steven Spielberg’s original blockbuster, with a score by composer John Williams, JAWS is an unforgettable film-with-live-orchestra experience!

The Seasons of Vivaldi and Piazzola: September 29 at 2:30pm. Venice and Buenos Aires: together, Vivaldi’s Baroque-era panache and Piazzolla’s Argentinian tango join in a dialogue that spans the seasons

Celebrating 10 years of partnership with Mezzo: Mezzo will broadcast 5 OSM concerts in September and 5 in October. In September, five OSM concerts will be featured including a LIVE broadcast of its opening season concert, the powerful Guerre-Lieder from Schoenberg on September 13th, the exact day of the birthday of the composer! Thanks to this partnership, OSM concerts have transcended borders, spreading the richness and excellence of the Orchestra throughout the world.
