Martinique Gourmande: Flavours from the Isle of Flowers

From September 10 to 22, the Martinique Gourmande culinary and solidarity festival, an initiative of the Comité Martiniquais du Tourisme au Canada, will spread the flavours of the Isle of Flowers across Québec for its 17th edition under the theme “Back to our roots”. For 12 days, you’ll be able to get a taste of Martinique at some 30 participating establishments, as well as at the famous Créole Market at the Grand Quay of the Port of Montréal Pavillon on September 14 and 15. Four guest chefs from Martinique will be concocting some of the island’s culinary gems in a friendly, festive atmosphere, much like this sunny destination, which holds a special place in the hearts of Québecers. Without a doubt, the Festival Martinique Gourmande has become one of Montreal’s must-attend festivals.

“Festival Martinique Gourmande is now firmly established as a reference point for Martinique
culture in Québec. Solidarity, sharing, and good food: these three founding pillars of our event are
behind the festival’s reputation as well as, of course, privileged moments between Québecers and
Martinicans. A delicious love story between the Belle Province and the Isle of Flowers. After 17 years
of evolution, we are “returning to our roots”. This year’s theme honours the foundations of our
gastronomy, with a modern touch. It’s a tribute to our ancestors from the four corners of the world,
who have made Martinique a marvellous blend of origins and flavours, creating a unique Martinican
identity,” says Bénédicte Di Géronimo, President of the Comité Martiniquais du Tourisme.
