Railway Christmas – until January 8, 2017, Exporail LiveEvents November 21, 2016 4472 Railway Christmas Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum will transport its visitors into the Magic of Christmas. A must-see event for the whole family where everyone can awaken their inner child! Upon entering the Grand Gallery, visitors will immediately be immersed in a festive atmosphere with decorated vehicles: a freight car full of toys, illuminated locomotives, an elves’ sled, a railroad car filled with reindeers… Christmas stockings will be hidden in vehicles all over the exhibit hall, so be alert! Under the Christmas tree, a model electric train will remind visitors of the traditional Christmas spirit and entice them to visit our model train room where two networks are in operation. Creativity and tasty treats will be present again this year with a Christmas cookies’ decoration activity from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. For $2, participants will be given a gingerbread cookie and the necessary material to make it look festive! Saturdays and Sundays, children can enjoy listening to the railway tale of Peter the Hogger presented at 1:30 p.m. in one of our baggage cars redecorated with Christmas colors. Then, along with their parents or grandparents, children can visit our Craft Workshop from 11:30 a.m. to noon, 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. where they can create their own Christmas tree decoration. Come and Meet Santa: Children will be able to write Santa a letter and mail it in our mail-express car in time for Christmas! From November 19 to December 18, 2016, they can even meet Santa in person: Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Outside, take a ride on the Miniature Railway: don’t forget your mittens and tuques! Saint-Constant hosts its very first Christmas Market! On December 9, 10 and 11, more than 40 artisans from the food and crafts sectors will be installed in the halls of Exporail, to offer their products to the general public. Muscovy ducks, artisanal delicatessen, ciders, fine chocolates… enough to make your guests salivate during your festive receptions! Moreover, many gift ideas await you, just in time to complete your holiday shopping! Among others, you will find textile creations, handmade soap, Russian dolls and other cabinetwork items in addition to many winter articles made of wool of sheep or alpaca. For the event, this car will be decorated in the spirit of Victorian Christmas.
