Founded in 1913, Lachine Hospital has provided compassionate care to the West Island for over a century. As part of the McGill University Health Centre, it combines the friendly atmosphere of a community-based hospital with the renowned expertise and resources of the number one research hospital in Quebec.

The Lachine Hospital Foundation, in collaboration with the MUHC Foundation, is raising $5 million to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment to complement the expansion project of the Lachine Hospital. The Dream Big: Lachine Hospital campaign complements the $220 million government-funded revitalization project that will convert the hospital into a modern, six-story building that boasts cutting-edge facilities and some of the brightest minds in medicine.

“Co-chairing for the Lachine Hospital Foundation gala is my way of giving back for the exceptional care my family has received at Lachine Hospital.” – Jason Prevost

To celebrate the new era of Lachine Hospital and help raise funds for equipment and special projects, the Lachine Hospital Foundation is hosting its signature event, the Lachine Hospital Foundation Gala, on April 12th. The Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel will be transformed into Studio 514, a Montreal-style tribute to the iconic 1970s disco hotspot! This exclusive event offers prominent business and health care professionals the opportunity to network, enjoy delicious canapés, and dance to the greatest hits of the era. The dress code? Dust off your bell-bottoms and flaunt your boldest prints!

The playful theme of this year’s gala is a nod to the vibrant, close-knit community that makes up the Lachine Hospital and their supporters. Among the invaluable members of this community are Julie Emond, Vice-President and General Manager of BioMérieux Canada, and Jason Prevost, President and COO of Leviton Canada, who have generously volunteered to co-chair the Lachine Hospital Foundation Gala 2024!

Mr. Prevost’s connection to the Lachine Hospital is deeply personal, and his decision to co-chair reflects his desire to give back for the wonderful care his family has received at the hospital.

“Co-chairing for the Lachine Hospital Foundation gala is my way of giving back for the exceptional care my family has received at Lachine Hospital. Recently, my father was admitted, and we experienced the through-line of care from the Lachine Hospital to the Glen site with an amazing care team across the MUHC. The attentiveness and unyielding support of the staff during this difficult time touched me deeply, and I’m honoured to be in a position to lead fundraising efforts and raise awareness for such an incredible community institution,” shares Mr. Prevost.

Given his family’s strong ties to the hospital, Mr. Prevost sees this as an opportunity to drive meaningful change on a local scale and give back to the hospital that saved his father’s life. His expert leadership skills, evidenced in his role as President and COO of Leviton Canada, will prove invaluable in raising transformative funding for the Dream Big: Lachine Hospital campaign.

“The annual gala gives us a chance to celebrate the inspiring accomplishments of the health care staff at Lachine Hospital, and to acknowledge the collective difference we can make when we unite to support a common goal,” says Mr. Prevost.

For Ms. Emond, co-chairing the Lachine Hospital Foundation Gala reflects her commitment to supporting local health care. Having been treated for cancer, she has a deep understanding of the essential role that our local hospitals play in supporting patients and helping them thrive during and after treatment.

“It’s an honor for me to co-chair this year’s Lachine Hospital Foundation gala. Having been successfully treated for cancer, I see this as an opportunity to give back and support the local health care network. Improving health care infrastructure in Quebec, and particularly in the West Island community that our company belongs to, reflects one of my core values,” states Ms. Emond.

“Together, we can help create a world where health is a priority, where everyone benefits from innovative technologies and compassionate care, especially those who are most vulnerable.” – Julie Emond

Ms. Emond’s leadership in bioMérieux Canada, a global leader in in vitro diagnostics (IVD), further underscores her inspiring commitment to advancing innovative health care solutions.

“I’ve always admired the patient-centric and community-oriented culture at Lachine Hospital, and I especially look forward to celebrating its promising future,” shares Ms. Emond.

Both co-chairs share a profound commitment to supporting the Lachine Hospital Foundation’s mission. Their involvement in the gala signifies a dedication to enhancing health care services and infrastructure for the benefit of the Lachine community and beyond.

“I love the idea of community and giving back to our local health care institutions. Being part of the fundraising efforts enabled me and the Leviton Canada team to collaborate with other committed people, including health care workers and community members. I thank our partners and team members” says Mr. Prevost.

Community is at the very heart of Lachine Hospital, and this is emphasized in the way that they have overcome multiple barriers and advocated for themselves over the years. Today, the Lachine Hospital Foundation, alongside the MUHC Foundation, has remarkably raised more than $3 million for the Dream Big: Lachine Hospital campaign, made possible by its inspiring community of dedicated supporters and change-makers.

This year’s signature gala is not only celebrating the incredible success of the Dream Big: Lachine Hospital campaign, but the wonderful community of supporters who have rallied behind the hospital since day one.

“The Lachine Hospital is the beating heart of the West Island community, and its future is very bright. We are especially honoured to have Ms. Emond and Mr. Prevost co-chair this year’s gala, which ushers in a new and exciting era for the hospital. Their commitment to our shared cause is not only inspiring but serves as a reminder that when we come together, we can turn big dreams into reality,” says Marie-Hélene Laramée, President and CEO of the MUHC Foundation.
