Bourgie Hall presents

Follow Bavela the cat as she takes us on a journey through her past lives in Egypt, Argentina, Canada and Italy. Meet a host of friendly characters and follow them on their exciting and fast-paced quest that will lead to a great celebration, all to the sound of marimba and cello.

Stick&Bow, “The trailblazing Montreal duo that plays everything from Bach to Radiohead” (CBC Music’s The Intro), unites Canadian marimba player Krystina Marcoux and Argentinian cellist Juan Sebastian Delgado. Classically trained musicians, they present a wide spectrum of musical styles, ranging from rock to gypsy-jazz and baroque to tango. Their eclectic repertoire features original arrangements of some of the most celebrated works in history, highlighting the potential of their instruments combined.

Featured in CBC Music’s The Intro as “boldly going where no cello and marimba have gone before”, they have been very active during the crisis of Covid-19. They were one of the few classical crossover groups to be selected by the National Arts Center for the #Canadaperforms live concerts; they arranged the song Pour déjouer l’ennui and released a video together with star singer Pierre Lapointe which was watched over 100K in less than 24 hours.

First-prize winner at the Latin-American Cello Competition (2008), Juan Sebastian holds a Doctoral degree in cello performance from McGill University and Krystina, first-prize winner of the OSM Competition (2012), holds a PhD from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et danse de Lyon. Their music has brought them to share magical moments with audiences from Banff to Colombia, passing by Armenia, Italy, the USA, Ecuador, France, as well as two pan-Canadian tours in 2019 and 2020 as “Emerging Artists” with Jeunesses Musicales du Canada.
