Le Festival Bouge d’ici is an annual celebration of Montreal’s up-and-coming contemporary dance community taking place online from March 3-14, 2021. Enjoy short works by emerging and established dance artists, take part in panel discussions and be surprised by creative programming. “Bouge d’ici is such an integral part of our yearly events and just because we can’t gather at MainLine Theatre, it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate our vibrant dance community” says Kenny Streule, MainLine Theatre’s Artistic Producer. “When discussing plans for this year’s edition of the festival, we sought to keep the core values of Bouge. With its content and activities, I can proudly say that we have accomplished just that.” This virtual edition of Bouge d’ici includes: – Bouge d’ici Festival Launch! (Live Streamed, March 3 from 5pm) Launch your Virtual Bouge d’ici Festival Experience in the company of MainLine Theatre’s Executive and Artistic Director Amy Blackmore, artists from the festival and special guests! – 25 Bouge Shorts (Videos on Demand, available March 3-14) 25 short dance videos created during confinement. Contemporary works by Allison Burns, Aurora Diana Prelević, Axelle Munezero, Eylül Bozok, Jessica Sofia Lopez Gacia, Jalianna Li, Josiane Goneau, Julianne Decerf, Meghan Mainville, Melissa McCracken Mona El Husseini, Naomi Adam-Johnston, Noël Vezina, Sigrid Patterson, Stephanie Fromentin, Rameez Karim, Tiera Joly Pavelich and many more! – Danse et technologie (French) (Live Streamed, March 10 at 5pm) A facilitated discussion presented in partnership with artsUNITE / UNITÉ des arts where dance professionals talk about their growing relationships with technology. Participants will share as they reflect on their experiences adapting work for the online sphere, creating connections with audiences through digital experiences and the practical lessons they have learned.
