Visions of the Amen

In Visions de l’Amen, Olivier Messiaen aimed to “express the variety and richness of the Amen in seven musical visions.” The result of this process is a fascinating work that is highly pianistic while retaining orchestral dimensions. To complete this mystical programme: transcriptions of organ works by Bach, and a hypnotic piece by the American composer John Adams.
