The Ladies’ Morning Musical Club presents

Calidore String Quartet

Jeffrey Myers – violin
Jeremy Berry – viola
Ryan Meehan – violin
Estelle Choi – cello

One of the most exciting young ensembles to emerge on the chamber music scene in recent years is the Calidore String Quartet, noted for its fiery brilliance, musicianship and palpable energy. Formed in 2010 at the prestigious Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, the Calidore String Quartet has been described as ‘a miracle of unified thought’ (La Presse) and as ‘four highly intelligent, deeply sensitive virtuosos’ (Strings magazine). The Quartet has presented recitals across the United States and Europe to great acclaim and has established an international reputation for its informed, polished and captivating performances. The Quartet is now based in Manhattan. The Calidore has performed at such prestigious festivals as Verbier, Ravinia, and the Schneider Concert Series in New York City. Its debut recording appeared in late 2013, with music of Mendelssohn and Haydn.

The Quartet won top prizes at the 61st ARD Munich International String Quartet Competition and the 2012 Hamburg International Chamber Music Competition. Using an amalgamation of ‘California’ and ‘doré’ (‘golden’), the ensemble’s name represents a reverence for the diversity of culture and the strong support it received from its home of origin, Los Angeles, California, the ‘golden state’. First LMMC appearance.
