Montreal Flamenco Festival – September 5-12, various locations LiveEvents August 31, 2015 5932 4th edition of the Montreal Flamenco Festival The festival will be held mainly in the heart of Mile End district. Throughout the festival, be sure to go to the festival headquarters at Café Convenience store (206 Bernard Street West ). Where you will surely come across several of the artists. Programming Highlights Family Day Sunday, September 6th from 10:00 am, on Bernard Street Monday, September 7 at 8:00 pm The festival hall series of performances will be launched at Sala Rossa(4848 St-Laurent) by the Impulso Flamenco group, led by Mexican original and internationally renowned percussionist Sergio Barrenechea. They will present their show “Cambios” in the company of Delphine Mantha, Hugo Larenas, Mikhaelle Salazar and Rodrigo Salazar. Tuesday, September 8 at 8:00 pm At Sala Rossa,the program calls for a contemporary flamenco evening: To begin with, guitarist Normand Vanasse will present his solo concert, “Sur le bout des doigts“. The dance presentation “L’innefable reste à naître” will follow. Wednesday, September 9 Singer and guitarist Marcos Marin and dancer/choreographer Katherine Oliveri will present “Frágil”, a warm, personal and expressive blend of flamenco music and dance. Thursday, September 10 at 8:00pm Singer José Luis Pérez presents “Reserva” at the Rialto Piccolo Cabaret (5723 Park Ave.) Friday, September 11 at 8:00 pm The final evening will be presented at the Cabaret Piccolo Rialto (5723 Park Ave.). Several artists will be honored: Andalusian dancer Curro Sendra, dancer Hedi Arquillère and guitarist Montalvo “Pachuco” Jheinsen will present a preview of their Catarsis Mektoub Flamenco show, which will be presented at Sala Rossa on September 24th. Also in attendance: the internationally renowned composer and guitarist Caroline Planté, artistic directors of La Otra Orilla (choreographer and dancer Myriam Allard and singer Hedi Graja), percussionist Miguel Medina, singer Marcos Marin, dancer Rosanne Dion, and violinist and singer Kristin Molnar.
