Kodo – March 7, Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier LiveEvents March 3, 2015 5666 Elite Japanese Drumming Place des Arts has the honour of presenting MYSTERY, the new show by elite Japanese drumming group Kodo, as part of its world tour. From one performance to another, Kodo perpetuates and reinvents traditional Japanese music by exploring the countless expressive possibilities of the taiko, a wood drum covered in hide that is used during traditional festivals and ceremonies. Reverberations From the Depths of the Earth Giant snakes, demons and lions writhe wildly to the rhythm of reverberations that rise up from the depths of the Earth. From the darkness they emerge, ever so powerful, frightening and mesmerizing. This show brings together the true character of Kodo and the dynamism of taiko expression with the stunning beauty and charm associated with the rituals that express reverence for nature and the worship of gods that have been part of Japanese tradition since ancient times. This performance takes you on a journey to the extraordinary, to a mysterious realm…to the hereafter. Kodo Since its beginnings in Berlin in 1981, Kodo has given more than 3,600 performances on five continents.
