He has famous friends: Frank Sinatra’s support helped Rickles become a popular performer in Las Vegas, where he first started in 1959, and has been a headliner ever since

Lots of famous friends: Affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Warmth” by Johnny Carson because of the way he pokes fun at people of all ethnicities and walks of life

He wins at stuff: Received Friars Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Comedy and honoured with performances by industry friends like Lewis Black, Louis C.K., Natalie Cole, Robert DeNiro, Kathy Griffin, Bob Newhart, Joan Rivers and Bob Saget

He’s being honored on TV:  One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles aired, on May 28, on Spike TV featuring luminaries like David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Tracy Morgan, Jimmy Kimmel, John Stamos, Bob Newhart, Regis Philbin, Ray Romano, Brad Garrett and many more.
