Renowned Conductor Trevor Pinnock to lead Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Quebec Choir in Handel’s The Messiah The Montrealer November 20, 2014 3563 Handel’s Messiah will make its highly anticipated return to Maison symphonique on Friday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m. The renowned Trevor Pinnock leads Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec, and a distinguished quartet of soloists—soprano Miriam Allan, mezzo soprano Allyson McHardy, tenor Allan Clayton, and bass baritone Andrew Foster-Williams—will be joining the orchestra and choir. The Messiah is a signature work in the repertoire of Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec and has played a big part in establishing their reputation in Quebec, Canada, and the United States. Each new take on the iconic oratorio by the orchestra and choir marks a high point in the concert season. The Violons du Roy production of The Messiah is in the hands of conductor and harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock This year’s performance is in the hands of conductor and harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock, known worldwide as a pioneer in the use of period instruments for his work with the English Concert, which he directed for 30 years. Trevor Pinnock is known worldwide as a harpsichordist and conductor who pioneered performance on historical instruments with The English Concert, the orchestra which he founded in 1972 and led for thirty years. He now divides his time between conducting, solo, chamber music, and educational projects. In addition to conducting Les Violons du Roy in December, Pinnock is also scheduled to conduct the Mozarteum Orchester (of which he is principal guest conductor), Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchester, Kammerorchester Basel, Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria, and Kioi Sinfonietta.
