31st Echoes of a Proud Nation Pow Wow

Discover the rich heritage of the Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke at this celebration of traditional and contemporary Indigenous cultures.

Each year since 1991, hundreds of dancers, numerous drum groups and thousands of spectators head to Kateri Tekakwitha Island, only 10 miles south of Montreal in the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) territory, to take part in this popular annual gathering.

This social and cultural celebration features two full days of traditional dancing and drumming, plus a dazzling display of competitive dancers in brilliantly coloured regalia. Sample delicious traditional native cuisine and pick up beautiful authentic artworks, crafts, carvings, beadwork, jewelry and more from onsite artisan vendors.

Pow wows are sacred gatherings of Indigenous peoples to honor the past, renew friendships, make new ones and celebrate with music, singing, food, dance and storytelling. The Kahnawake pow wow encourages bonds of friendship between the community, its neighbors and visitors from around the world. Everyone is welcome!
