Musicians from Marlboro – March 30, 2022 LiveEvents March 23, 2022 1294 Bourgie Hall presents Musicians from Marlboro Schubert and Britten share the scene in this concert given by the eminent Musicians from Marlboro: two contrasting string quartets and two rarely-heard works for voice, French horn and piano treated with an original and unusual instrumentation. Celebrating its seventh decade of performances, the Musicians from Marlboro touring program was created as an extension of Vermont’s Marlboro Music Festival. Musicians from Marlboro tours are noted not only for their joyous and thoroughly prepared performances but also for offering valuable touring experience to artists at the beginning of their careers and for featuring programs of unusual as well as beloved chamber repertoire. Since their inception, the Musicians from Marlboro tours have introduced such great talents as Yefim Bronfman, Pamela Frank, Richard Goode, Jaime Laredo, Murray Perahia, Paula Robison, Sir András Schiff, Peter Serkin, Richard Stoltzman, Christian Tetzlaff, Benita Valente, and Harold Wright, among others. They have also included other exceptional artists now heard in the Brentano, Chicago, Emerson, Guarneri, Juilliard, Orion, Miami, Muir, Tokyo, St. Lawrence, and Ying Quartets as well as the Beaux Arts, Eroica, Mannes, and Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trios, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Artists Miles Mykkanen, tenor Miles Mykkanen has garnered recognition on the world’s concert and operatic stages for his “focused, full-voiced tenor” (The New York Times). Of his performance in the title role of Candide at Tanglewood, it was reported in Opera, “Mykkanen sang and spoke feelingly and superbly, with crystalline diction, a powerful lyric sound seemingly capable of infinite dynamic gradations.” He spent numerous summers at the Marlboro Music Festival where his performances have spanned from art songs of Brahms and Britten to chamber music of Brett Dean with distinguished guest artists Mitsuko Uchida, Malcolm Martineau, Roger Vignoles, and many others. He frequently appears with Steven Blier, Michael Barrett, and the New York Festival of Song and also has collaborated with Juilliard415, the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, New World Symphony, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
