You’re never too young to get behind the wheel at MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE. A 15-minicar racetrack for kids age 2 to 5 Ice sculpting demonstrations and workshops Thursday, March 3 from 2 pm to 5 pm Participants can try their hand at the art of ice sculpting and explore their creativity in our “freestyle” workshop. Blocks will be placed on the ground so young and old can participate. One block per family. Please note that quantities are limited Outdoor ice sculpture demonstrations led by a professional sculptor who will be showcasing different techniques, including sculpting, assembling pieces and “glueing” them together to create ice artwork. Coinciding with the It’s Circus Time! exhibition, spontaneous performances, music, clowns, and juggling and balancing workshops await you all week long during the school break. In this joyful atmosphere, join your family in exploring the circus arts! Professional artists will be on hand to teach you a few circus skills you can then show off to your friends. Also, take the opportunity to try out the Desjardins kaleidoscope! Take funny snapshots using the set of mirrors in this big mobile kaleidoscope set up in the street. Discover the new permanent exhibition Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resilience and cultural activities offered at the Museum. Admission to the Museum is free at all times for children and teenagers 17 and under. Accompanying adults must purchase a Museum admission ticket. Natu-natshishkueu: The Adventure of Connection At all times at the Museum Through observation, imagination and discussion, children and adults encounter Indigenous nations by exploring the Museum’s Indigenous Cultures collection and the many stories it holds. Each child will receive a free bag to set off on their adventure, presented by Hydro-Québec. Recommended for children aged 6 to 11. Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resilience At all times at the Museum Come and explore in family the new permanent exhibition and learn more about the still unrecognized knowledge of Indigenous peoples in Quebec and Canada as well as the deep wounds they carry and their incredible resilience. Carefully selected objects from the Museum’s Indigenous Cultures collection are combined with powerful inspiring stories from members of the 11 Indigenous nations of Quebec, shedding light on their knowledge and philosophies. Films for Young People: Introduction to Indigenous Worlds At the Museum, from February 28 to March 4, at 10:30 am The Museum and the National Film Board (NFB) have put together a program of Indigenous short films offering a look into a colourful, poetic visual world. Created with a variety of animation techniques, these ten short films use warmth, magic and humour to help children learn more about Indigenous and Inuit peoples. Recommended for children aged 5 to 10. Activity in French. Vaccine passport is required for all people aged 13 and up. Find inspiration in snapshots of Montreal taken between 1865-1900 by renowned photographer William Notman. Have fun creating your own picture of Montreal using magnetic images. A great opportunity for you and your children to discuss the future of our city!
