Fairmont Le Château Montebello is celebrating its 90^th Anniversary this year, and they are offering a terrific package for $90 per person, per night that includes breakfast. There is a two night minimum, and this package is available Sunday through Thursday nights. At that rate – who wouldn’t want to spend two nights?

Fairmont Le Château Montebello’s rustic, yet luxurious accommodations sit on more than 300 acres of land. In 2019, the hotel invested more than $17.5M on the renovation of 102 of its 210 guest rooms. While the weather may be blustery in November and early December, guests can cozy up in front of the hotel’s signature six-sided fireplace, enjoy a swim in the largest hotel indoor pool in Canada, have an invigorating workout in the fitness centre or enjoy a stroll along the resort’s on-property trails.

Le Château Montebello has a dedicated spa building, accessible by the same tunnel that links the main building with the indoor pool. Le Spa has eight treatment rooms, with two for couples and one equipped with a fireplace. The sun-drenched Salon Soleil offers three pedicure stations and two manicure desks. Le Spa is immensely popular, and I’d recommend making reservations before your visit.

The focal point of the main building is an enormous circular lobby, dominated by a huge six-sided fireplace and stone chimney rising three storeys up to the cathedral ceiling. The most stunning aspect is that the entire structure is made of logs. This is where you get your first impression that you’re about to spend time in a log castle – like something out of a children’s storybook.

Broad interior balconies provide access to the second and third story rooms and quiet seating areas for guests to enjoy a cozy nook. The newly renovated and classic rooms have log walls, offering a rustic-chic decor. At the same time, you’ll find high-speed wireless and cable connections for your laptop or iPhone, coffee makers, HD flat screen televisions.

Fine dining is an integral part of any luxury getaway or vacation, and the talented chefs at Château Montebello have earned a reputation for meeting and exceeding guest expectations. Aux Chantignoles main dining room has a magnificent two storey atrium ceiling and the warm log structure has an old-world elegance. Additional seating in the Diane section offers guests a more intimate ambiance with stone walls, log beams and picture windows overlooking the grounds and the Ottawa River. The one-bedroom suites have full kitchen facilities which we’ve found useful when traveling with our family.

In addition to a fully equipped fitness centre, there is an indoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the mountain and village. The outdoor pool is heated year round, and there are also two large exterior hot tubs. Safety protocols are in place, ensuring that everyone has safe access to the facilities. The staff at Moments Spa is available to pamper guests with a full range of treatments.

Guests can begin their day with a hearty breakfast at Le Comptoir and enjoy the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
