Montreal Highland Games

Every year, the Montreal Highland Games brings together Montrealers of Scottish and all other backgrounds to celebrate Highland games, music and culture. The Games represent a wonderful opportunity for participants and visitors alike to discover the treasures, legends and history of the rich Scottish culture.

Over the years there have been a number of different competitions held at the games, including Lacrosse, long jumping, running, and quoits, but the perennial favourites remain: Caber tossing, stone throwing, piping, tug of war and highland dancing.

The athletic events at The Montreal Highland Games feature only the very best Scottish athletes. All the participants you will see perform at the Games have been invited based on their track record. Each athlete will compete in seven traditional Highland events:

Putting the Stone (like a shot putt using a stone in place of the steel ball)
56 pound weight thrown for distance and height
28 pound weight thrown for distance
Heavy Hammer throw
Sheaf toss
Caber toss

The athletic events get under way around 9:00 am.
