Around the fireplace… Holiday Traditions

This Holiday season, five of the Château Ramezay’s fireplaces will be sumptuously decorated according to a particular theme. Each mantelpiece will explain the origin of a specific Christmas tradition: Christmas cards, Christmas stockings, advent calendars and more – it’ll be well worth gathering around the fireside!

A variety of holiday activities:

Fireplace Hang your Christmas stockings! 
From December 3 to 30
Cost: 10$

Children can hang a Christmas stocking by the fireplace and come back after the New Year to find what Santa has left them! Choose your stocking at the front desk.

Open to all. No reservation required.

 

 

FireplaceBaking Workshop 
Saturdays and Sundays of December, every day from December 26 to 30 and from January 2 to 8
Cost: Free of charge

Tie on an apron and try your hand at making, baking and eating a sweet sourdough bread.

FireplaceSelfies #NewFrance Style
From December 2, 2016 to January 8, 2017
From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cost: Free of charge

Dress up as a colonist or a fur trader and pose for a selfie in the historic décor of the Chateau Ramezay. Use your own camera or phone.

Open to all. No reservation required.

Fireplace

Château Ramezay – Historic Site and Museum of Montreal was selected by a team of experts, in collaboration with UNESCO, as one of the 1001 historic sites you must see before you die.

Montreal’s portal to its past, the Château Ramezay was built in the 18th century as a prestigious residence. It was the first building in Québec to be classified an historic monument.
