Chamber Music for Winds and Strings

Serenata at St. John’s, a Sunday afternoon series of free concerts, features members of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and other well-known local musicians in a varied repertoire of string, wind and vocal chamber music.

Hindemith: Kleine Kammermusik, Op. 24 No. 2 for wind quintet
Ferenc Farkas: Early Hungarian Dances from the 17th century
Schubert: String Quartet D810, “Death and the Maiden”

The concerts take place in St. John’s Lutheran Church, a short distance from downtown. A thriving congregation with weekly services in German and English, St. John’s was founded in 1853 and has occupied its present building for more than a hundred years. The nave’s warm acoustics and intimate, sunny atmosphere are ideal for chamber music.

We invite you, your family and friends to join us for our one-hour concerts, which provide the perfect complement to a Sunday afternoon. Admission is free. Only through your financial support are these concerts possible.
