Montreal Fringe Festival

MainLine Theatre extends a warm invitation to Montrealers to kick off their summer with the 34th edition of the Montreal Fringe Festival, taking place from May 27 to June 16, 2024. Featuring an extensive lineup of 91 companies and over 600 performances, this year’s festival promises a vibrant showcase of art from around the globe including the return of iconic events such as Fringe-for-All, Fringe Park, 13th Hour and of course our acclaimed Frankie Awards. Between theatre, dance, comedy, puppets, magic, drag, music and Mini-Fringe there is something for everyone at FringeMTL.

After over three decades of going the extra mile, the FRINGE continues to offer programming rooted in the values of diversity, accessibility, and artistic freedom. This edition will present 91 companies, each selected by lottery or first come, first accepted basis. Companies have been allotted six or more performances each, with their box office revenues going straight back into their pockets.

To ensure diverse content, a system of quotas was used: this year, 80% of shows are local (40% Quebec anglophone, 40% Quebec francophone), 10% are from Canada and 10% are international (coming from as far as Australia). Theatre, dance, music, puppetry, poetry, cabaret, musical theatre, multidisciplinary work, storytelling and more!

This year’s returning artists include Paul de Tourreil (@postitpaul), PointeTango, Jem Rolls, Frank Sharp
It’s not Television, Loose Cannons and Half Twin.
