La TOHU presents

The Mirror

by Gravity & Other Myths

At La TOHU, 2024 is opening with the grand return of the Australian troupe Gravity & Other Myths, after a spectacular visit to our town this past summer with their dazzling The Pulse staged before a full house! From February 21 to March 3, the exceptional company is offering Montrealers THE MIRROR, an ambitious creation in both physical and conceptual terms.

Exploring the notion of entertainment through the language of contemporary circus, THE MIRROR questions what the modern human finds entertaining. What do we want to show the world, and is it something others want to see? What does authenticity mean in a time of ubiquitous screens and continuous self-presentation?

“The Mirror is risky, sexy, and cheeky in all the right ways” – Theatre Thoughts

In a show once again directed by Darcy Grant, a founding member of the prestigious Australian troupe Circa, high-level dance and acrobatics unfold in a space of innovative contemporary design, with an LED wall, various cameras, and selfie sticks. Profoundly expressive and spirited, accompanied by the remarkable electronic compositions and pop mash-ups of musician Ekrem Eli Phoenix (who also gave us the music for The Pulse), the artists of Gravity & Other Myths boldly set off in search of the “true” self.

This company has enchanted Montreal with A simple space in 2014 and 2015, Backbone in 2018 and the riveting The Pulse, which sold out and delighted critics and audiences alike at the most recent edition of MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE.

Warning: Partial nudity, use of strobe effects, fog and loud music during the show.
