Artists
Jack Swanson, tenor

Stillwater, Minnesota native Jack Swanson is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after young tenors in the opera world. His distinctive high lyric voice is known for singing the acrobatic arias of Rossini and the legato melodies of Donizetti.

In 2023/24, Jack Swanson will make his debut at Lyric Opera of Chicago as Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola) and then returns to Den Norske Oper in the same role for Stefan Herheim’s production under Vincenzo Milletarì. He also makes his debut with Houston Grand Opera, returning to the role of Fenton (Falstaff) under Patrick Summers. He will finish his season at the Rossini Opera Festival, reprising his signature Almaviva under Lorenzo Passerini.

Equally comfortable on the concert and recital platforms, this season Jack performs recitals with the Sag Harbor Song Festival and Salle Bourgie in Montreal, Canada with pianist, John Arida. He will also perform Carmina Burana with Symphoria Orchestra in New York.  Jack debuted with Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rossini’s Stabat Mater conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, the Houston Symphony for Mozart’s requiem under the baton of Itzhak Perlman and has otherwise appeared at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Atlanta Opera, Lausitz Festival and Los Angeles Opera as Candide, the Kennedy Center in Washington in selections from Schumann’s Dichterliebe, and with Speranza Scappucci and Insula Orchestra in Rossini’s Messa di Gloria. He has given mainstage recital debuts at Oper Frankfurt with Malcolm Martineau, and as part of the 2021 Rossini Opera Festival with Gianni Fabbrini, in programmes of Beethoven, Schumann, Liszt, Rossini and Poulenc.
