Ariane LajoieWomen Making Music – May 26, 2023 LiveEvents May 19, 2023 871 Bourgie Hall presents Musicians of the OSM – Women Making Music The exhibition Parall(elles): A History of Women in Design is the inspiration for this concert featuring two fabulous piano quintets by Americans Amy Beach and Florence Price, as well as a piece for solo piano by Canadian composer Alexina Louie. Artists Marianne Dugal, violin A native of Saguenay, Marianne Dugal studied piano and violin at Quebec Music Conservatory in Chicoutimi and Montreal. Since 1999, she has been a member of the first violins section of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra since 1999. Ariane Lajoie, violin Ariane Lajoie completed her undergraduate studies under Jean-François Rivest before obtaining her doctorate from the Université de Montréal under Vladimir Landsman. She also studied at the Salzburg Mozarteum Sommerakademie, Holland Music Sessions and Moscow Conservatory with such masters as Igor Oistrakh. Ariane has since performed as a chamber musician in Bergen (Holland), Ottawa, Toronto and Potsdam (New York). Natalie Racine, viola Geneviève Guimond, cello A graduate of the Juilliard School, Montreal-born cellist Genevieve Guimond has performed as soloist with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra, and I Musici de Montreal. She won the grand prize at the Montreal Classical Music Festival (2000), first prize at the Canadian Music Competition (2005) and first prize at the National Music Festival (2007). In 2013 Yo-Yo Ma appointed Genevieve as a Citizen Musician Fellow at the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In 2014-2015 she served as principal cellist and artist-in-residence of the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra. In June 2017, Kent Nagano appointed Genevieve to the cello section of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Meagan Milatz, piano Meagan Milatz, pianist, is quickly emerging as one of the most sought–after collaborative artists inthe country. She regularly performs with top international musicians such as Andrew Wan,concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra; Stefan Dohr, Principal Horn of the BerlinPhilharmonic; and cellist Matt Haimovitz.
