Hervé Niquet conducts Charpentier – Between Triumph and Devotion

Pinnacles of French Baroque vocal writing, the motets of Marc-Antoine Charpentier—works such as the jubilant Te Deum and the moving Miserere des Jésuites—are musical testaments to the splendours and deep piety of France’s Grand Siècle. Hervé Niquet, long a great advocate of this repertory, employs his renowned verve and eloquence in resurrecting these masterworks of Charpentier, who was as savant as he was sensitive.
