Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Just For Laughs Montréal with an all-star Gala featuring Caroline Rhea, Chris Redd, Hoodo Hersi, Katherine Ryan, Matteo Lane, Tommy Tiernan and special guest Rick Mercer, plus special surprise presenters. Caroline Rhea Caroline Rhea is a stand-up comedian and actress, best known for her role as ‘Hilda Spellman’ on the ABC hit series ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch,’ and numerous comedy specials on Comedy Central, HBO and Showtime. Caroline is featured on several children’s series, starring in Disney Channel’s ‘Sydney to the Max’ and appearing as ‘Linda Flynn Fletcher’ on Phineas and Ferb for over 10 seasons. She is often on game shows such as ‘Hollywood Squares,’ ‘Nashville Squares’ and ‘To Tell The Truth.’ Caroline was the host of ‘The Caroline Rhea Show’ and has guest starred on many hit series, including ‘Two Broke Girls,’ ‘The Mark Maron Show,’ and ‘The Grinder.’ Caroline starred as ‘Noleta Nethercott’ in the cult classic series ‘Sordid Lives,’ later reprising her role in the film ‘A Very Sordid Wedding,’ which ranked #1 on Amazon Films for a full month following its release. She headlined the Showtime special ‘More Funny Women of a Certain Age,’ before starring as the title character in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Film ‘A Mrs. Miracle Christmas’ in 2021. This marks Caroline’s 30th year as a stand-up comedian. Katherine Ryan Award-winning comedian, writer, presenter and actress Katherine Ryan is currently dominating the television and live comedy scenes, both in the UK and abroad. Katherine starred in, wrote and executive produced her 6 x 30’ sitcom, The Duchess, for Netflix Originals which was released globally in 2020 and leapt to the top of the Netflix chart. She has filmed two critically-acclaimed Netflix Global 60’ stand-up specials – Glitter Room and In Trouble. Katherine has sold-out venues across the world with her unique shows and has been touring her sell-out new show Missus across the UK and Europe and now returns to her home country of Canada. She took the show to the prestigious Netflix Is A Joke Festival in LA in April of this year. Katherine will soon be seen hosting her own major 6 part flagship series for Amazon Prime which will go out globally – Backstage with Katherine Ryan. In 2019, she hosted The Stand Up Show with Katherine Ryan for CTV. Her hit podcast Telling Everybody Everything frequently tops the podcast charts and is hosted by market-leader Acast. Matteo Lane Matteo Lane is a New York-based comedian whose stand-up special can be seen on Netflix’s THE COMEDY LINEUP. He’s also appeared on THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT, LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS, HBO’s CRASHING and WILL & GRACE. Matteo is currently developing an animated series Kickass Drag Queen, together with Bob the Drag Queen, Gary Sanchez and Unicorn Island Productions, and co-hosts the podcast Inside the Closet together with Emma Willmann. Not limited to just stand up, Matteo also performs a live cabaret, Streisand at the Bon Soir, to great critical acclaim. Fluent in five languages and with a singing range of six octaves, Matteo lived in Italy as an oil painter and opera singer before starting his comedy career. Tommy Tiernan Tommy Tiernan has been working as a stand up comedian for the past twenty plus years. He currently moonlights as a chat show host and newspaper columnist. A fearless force of energy, Tiernan is inspiring, and one of the few comics to take his audience on a genuine emotional journey elevating the soul through rich, honest laughs. Tiernan has an instinctive way of crafting words to bring his anecdotes to vivid life and make the jokes truly resonate. Performances are high intensity, high octane, a no holds barred roller coaster ride as Tommy continues his constant interrogation of the big ideas – Sex, Religion, Family through the lens of his quirks, personal demons and sense of outrage. Tommy currently hosts The Tommy Tiernan Show on RTE which returns for a new series next year. Chris Redd Chris Redd is an actor, writer, stand-up comic, and rapper. Redd is a cast member on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and currently stars in the NBC comedy, KENAN, opposite Kenan Thompson. Redd currently stars in the Peacock series BUST DOWN opposite Sam Jay, Jak Knight and Langston Kerman, and has an hour long special in the works for HBO Max. In 2018, Redd received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the “SNL” song “Come Back, Barack.” He appeared in the 2016 film “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping” opposite Andy Samberg, and also starred in the Netflix original comedy series, “Disjointed” opposite Kathy Bates. In 2017, Redd debuted his own half-hour episode of “Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents” and in 2019 released his debut stand-up album “But Here We Are.” Redd was featured as a roaster on the Comedy Central Roast of Alec Baldwin in 2019. Redd can be seen in the comedy films “Deep Murder,” “The House,” and “A Futile and Stupid Gesture.” On TV, Redd starred in the cult-classic series “Wet Hot American Summer” and was featured in NBC’s “Will & Grace,” Netflix’s “Love,” Comedy Central’s “Detroiters” and “Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents.” Additionally, Redd was featured as a 2016 Standup New Face at Just For Laughs in Montreal. Redd was previously a performer at Chicago’s Second City. Hoodo Hersi Hoodo Hersi is a NY-based comedian currently writing on A24/Amazon’s Untitled Ramy Youssef Animated show. Since being selected as a New Face: Canada at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, one of CBC’s 15 Comics to Watch, and an Audible New Voice at SF Sketchfest, Hoodo has performed in clubs and festivals all over Canada and the United States. She has performed alongside Hasan Minhaj, Lil Rel Howery, Roy Wood Jr., Nicole Byer, and Maria Bamford, among others. She also had the distinct honors of hosting the TEDxToronto Conference and featuring in Sephora’s national “Get Lippie” lipstick campaign in partnership with Fashion Magazine, where she was profiled as one of the three Female Comedians Taking Canada by Storm Right Now. She is currently developing a semi-autobiographical series with Pam Brady and Ramy Youssef’s Cairo Cowboy Productions. Rick Mercer Rick Mercer is a Canadian comedian, television personality, political satirist, and author. He is best known for his work on the CBC Television comedy shows This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made In Canada, and Rick Mercer Report. Mercer has received nearly 30 Gemini Awards and Canadian Screen awards for his work on television, and his CBC Television special Talking To Americans remains the highest rated Canadian comedy special ever with 2.7 million viewers. Mercer is the author of four books, all of which have been national best sellers, and has also written for Time, Maclean’s, The Globe and Mail, and The National Post. His newest book – Talking to Canadians: A Memoir – is available now. He is a recipient of the Governor Generals Performing Arts Award, an Officer of the Order of Canada, and a proud native of St. John’s, Newfoundland.
