Parfum d’Europe at Salle Claude-Léveillée – February 12, 2022 LiveEvents February 5, 2022 969 Parfum d’Europe The Cobalt String Quartet invites you on a brilliant and mesmerizing musical journey through the Classical period, featuring Mozart’s Divertimento in F major as well as the charming melodies of the Sirmen and Haydn Quartets. Seeking to emulate the ideals of classical antiquity, composers of this period favored clearer divisions between parts, sharper contrasts and colors, and simplicity rather than complexity. This era marked the beginning of string quartets: the musical dialogue becomes a four-way conversation where each voice expresses itself in all its beauty. Enjoy a musical moment of clarity and serenity with the Cobalt String Quartet! Cobalt String Quartet An emerging ensemble, the Cobalt Quartet has distinguished by its eclectic and modern musical approach, exploring with as much enthusiasm early music on period instruments as contemporary creations. Committed musicians, the members of the quartet are dedicated to making music ever more accessible to a wide audience, defying stylistic and social barriers. The Quartet has played in various festivals such as the Festival International de Lanaudière, the Festival International du Domaine Forget and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. Recently, the quartet collaborated with Patrick Watson on his show Wave, revisiting the Montreal singer’s repertoire through arrangements linking textures and improvisations. The Cobalt Quartet was formed at the University of Montreal, and had the honor of being artist in residence at the Faculty of Music of the Université de Montréal during the 2020-2021 season.
