Great Christmas Concert

With Christmas just around the corner, Aline Kutan and the Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal invite you to celebrate the Nativity with music.

Aline Kutan will be accompanied by the Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, under the direction of Andrew Gray, trumpeters Stéphane Beaulac and Benjamin Raymond, Vincent Boucher at the organ and Luc Beauséjour, artistic director at the organ and harpsichord. The program includes traditional hymns, Christmas Carols for organ, Vivaldi’s Concerto for 2 trumpets, etc.

Montreal soprano of Armenian origin, Aline Kutan has been performing on the world’s greatest stages. She recently sang the role of Fire in L’enfant et les sortilèges with the Rotterdam Philharmonic under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Last season, she made her debut at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires as the Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute).

In concert, she charmed audiences with Stravinsky’s The Nightingale (Festival International de Lanaudière), Mozart’s concert arias, Glière’s Concerto for a coloratura soprano with the OSM. With the same orchestra, she had great success in Mozart’s Mass in C minor conducted by Iwan Edwards. Later, she performed Mahler’s 8th Symphony, Richard Wagner’s Tannhäuser and distinguished herself as the Angel in Messiaen’s Saint-François d’Assise under the baton of Kent Nagano.

To celebrate the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, Ms. Kutan sang the Carmina Burana on the Plains of Abraham with the OSQ and Yoav Talmi. She performed the Air des clochettes from Lakmé on the ATMA recording to celebrate the 20thanniversary of the Opéra de Montréal.

Ms. Kutan is a laureate of the Metropolitan Opera Competition in New York, the Concours du Chant international de Toulouse, the Joseph Rouleau Prize, the Licia-Albanese-Puccini Foundation Prize in New York and the George London Foundation in New York. For the past two years, she has taught voice at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and at McGill University.
