Bach in Brandenburg – April 24, 2021 LiveEvents April 18, 2021 1006 Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra presents Bach in Brandenburg 2021 marks the 300th anniversary of Bach’s Brandenburg concertos! Maestro Eric Paetkau leads the SSO through some of the most exceptional music ever written in this concert featuring three of the Brandenburgs. Bach captured a musical lightning bolt of joy in these works and on top of being brilliantly written, they are works of stellar virtuosity that allow us to showcase Principals of the SSO. The SSO Brass join us for this concert because Bach and brass should go hand in hand! They’ll be playing a couple of favourites to help us on this musical journey back to this celebration of Brandenburg! Artists Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra Eric Paetkau, Music Director Canadian Eric Paetkau is the Music Director of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and is also Founder and Music Director of Toronto-based group of 27. Known for his intense musicality and artistic excellence, Mr. Paetkau has conducted many orchestras including the Calgary Philharmonic, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Windsor Symphony, and Les Violons du Roy, among others. Mr. Paetkau has also held the position of Resident Conductor with Quebec City’s world-renowned Les Violons du Roy. He led the orchestra in over 40 concerts with repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the contemporary with soloists such as contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux, harpist Valérie Milot, and violinist Pascale Giguére. As a violist, Mr. Paetkau was a member of the Nuremburg Symphony in Germany, and has played with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Opera Company, the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, Les Violons du Roy, and Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.
