Orchestre national de Jazz de Montréal

Octaèdre

This third concert in the Soloist Series welcomes the great saxophonist Yannick Rieu, in a work commissioned from composer and conductor Jean-Nicolas Trottier. For this occasion, the NYO will be transformed into a string orchestra plus a harp and a rhythm section! Edgar Bori’s rich voice will be set to the texts of Yannick Rieu and Jean-Nicolas Trottier for this exceptional event.

” The lyrics will be spoken and not sung. Having worked with Bori in the past, he was the first person who came to mind to read my texts. His warm voice, the precision of his diction, his understanding of the ideas that run through the texts are elements that naturally tipped the decision to hire him as a reader. Knowing his work, there is a certain community of spirit, a feeling of being close, in communion with his personal vision of what surrounds us, life, our place in the world. His great sensitivity makes me think that the texts are in good company with him and that he will bring them to life. ” – Yannick Rieu
