Nuit blanche 2021 Goes Virtual

Featuring over 30 free digital activities from all walks of life–comedy, games, visual arts, cinema, music, theater, dance – this 18th edition, held on Saturday, March 13, will give night owls the chance to fill up on culture!

To mark this special year in which all spheres of the cultural field were put to the test, the festival offers the public a different and culturally nourishing ¨Nuit¨ in the form of a big celebration at home, in the company of artists who could not be more resilient.

The Nuit blanche Cabaret with Arnaud Soly
Live from the Lion d’Or starting at 9 pm, Arnaud Soly will present a multidisciplinary show in which he will invite a dozen artists from various backgrounds: Klô Pelgag, Émile Bilodeau, Katherine Levac, Queen KA, Éric Desranleau, Daniel Grenier, Antonin Mousseau-Rivard– to name a few–  who will be joined by visual artists, dancers, comedians, poets, musicians… A covid-proof virtual gathering full of surprises that will make you happy to stay at home! To make sure you don’t miss any of it, visit the Nuit blanche’s Facebook Live and MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE YouTube Channel!

The MAC’s virtual Nuit blanche

Manuel Mathieu’s Night at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
A long-time partner of the Nuit Blanche, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) invites you to explore Manuel Mathieu’s universe. You will have the opportunity to discover his exhibition Survivance; to view Dana Michel’s danced performance in contact with the works; to participate in a creative workshop with the painter; and to follow him in the museum’s collections to discover his sources of inspiration.

The MAC’s virtual Nuit blanche
This year, celebrate the Nuit blanche at home with the MAC! On the program: the virtual art workshop “Lift your spirits”, inspired by artist Marlon Kroll’s series of drawings in the exhibition La machine qui enseignait des airs aux oiseaux, and surprises all evening long on the MAC’s social media accounts! To do the art workshop at home, paper and coloured pencils will be needed.

Art Matters: Idle Mapping from a High Speed Train
For the 2021 edition of Nuit blanche, the Art Matters Festival offers a digital exploration of the different artistic disciplines that develop at Concordia University. As the launch event for our own festival, Art Matters’ Nuit blanche exhibition will focus on visual and performative artwork curated by a team of undergraduate students from Concordia University.

Coups de cirque – A performance from the art of circus that speaks of a journey naming the four elements of nature and the pre-Columbian universe of Mexico: Earth, Fire, Air, Water, elements that also correspond to the four elements of classical antiquity.

CINEMA

Lumière sur le cinéma  – Cinéma du Parc x Pleins Écrans: A series of short films that explore the theme of the stars, the night and the mystical force that brings us back to the magic of cinema.

Cinéma au Palais – In collaboration with Productions Spectrum, a presentation of short films directed by young autistic filmmakers.

FNC on the Moon –  For the occasion of the Nuit blanche, the Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal invites you on a cinematic journey inspired by the moon.For the Nuit blanche 2021, Montreal’s Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC) invites you on a cinematic and esoteric journey inspired by the Moon. From a lunar expedition to Galician legends, enjoy a 24-hour free online screening of a selection of features and short films previously presented at the FNC. (Note: most events start in the late afternoon and evening, but this is a 24-hour event that runs from March 13 at 8 am – March 14 at 7:59 am.)

La Nuit des podcasts – Presented by Zoofest, 5 hours of continuous podcasts will allow you to delve into the humorous universes of up-and-coming comedians.

Le Casino de Montréal presents Les 24h Vinyle – The 21st edition of the 24h of vinyl, a marathon of DJ sets to keep you dancing all night long!

Grande Ourse – The vocal ensemble À Contrevoix, commissioned an original work from composer Jean-Claude Côté. Entitled Grande Ourse, this work will be presented as a world premiere.

DRAEDEN –  Presented by îleSoniq, this cinematic-bass music producer is fascinated by science-fiction and his music will transport you!
