La Dolce Vita!

For this romantic Pops concert the orchestra will take you on a musical adventure to one of the most romantic destinations in the world.

Italy is full of exceptional food, incredible wine, picturesque views around every corner…and some of the best romantic music ever written. This concert features two Saskatoon rising super stars joining the SSO to bring you love songs like O Sole Mio, Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye), O Mio Babbino Caro, and more!

Leslie Dala makes his SSO podium debut, brings his experience and love of Italian music to this performance. You’ll hear love themes from Puccini, the Godfather, and even dip your toes into the waters of Cinema Paradiso.

The evening takes you on an adventure through from Naples to Rome and across the Italian countryside. You’ll be falling in love with Italy and this passionate music just in time for Valentines!

Conductor Leslie Dala enjoys a multifaceted career spanning the genres of opera, symphonic music, choral and contemporary works. On the podium, he is known for his passionate, dynamic, and charismatic approach to music making. Named one of the top ten artistic leaders by the Vancouver Sun, Dala’s national profile has grown steadily with guest conducting appearances with Pacific Opera Victoria, Edmonton Opera, Saskatoon Opera, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony, Thirteen Strings of Ottawa, the COSI Festival in Sulmona, Italy, the Goh Ballet, University of Toronto Opera Department and the Glenn Gould School Opera Program.
