Montreal Comiccon – July 5-7, 2019 Palais des Congres LiveEvents June 29, 2019 1991 The 11thedition aims to be the biggest yet, with an expected attendance of more than 60,000 pop culture fans, showing their love of science fiction, fantasy, anime, horror, video games and, of course, comic books. This year will feature guests and activities honouring pop culture from Star Wars, Once Upon a Time, Star Trek, Smallville, Firefly, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, The Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Umbrella Academy and so much more! Celebrities and Comic Book Guests ● None other than William Shatner will be at Comiccon this summer! Known for his infamous role of Captain Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series, Shatner will be present on Sunday only. ● Tom Felton is internationally recognized as Draco Malfoy, the ultimate bully and Harry Potter’s rival, in the successful Harry Potter film franchise. In recent years, he has also turned his sights to television, having taken on a lead role on the first season of Murder in the First and a recurring role on The Flash’s third season, playing antagonist Julian Albert (and his alter-ego Doctor Alchemy). Most recently, he starred in the YouTube Premium series, Origin, as Logan Maine. Tom Felton will appear at Comiccon on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7. ● Another Guest of Honour with none other than Elijah Wood! An American actor, film producer and DJ, Elijah is best known for portraying Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001-2003). He will appear at Montreal Comiccon on Saturday, July 6 to sign autographs and take part in photo ops with his fans. He will also be live on stage during the day. ● Montreal Comiccon just added well-known voice actor Jim Cummings to the 2019 guest list. Known for voicing many Disney and Looney Tunes characters, including Pete (the main antagonist in the Mickey Mouse universe), Winnie The Pooh (since 1988), Tigger, Bonkers D. Bobcat, Tasmanian Devil, and Darkwing Duck, he has appeared in almost 400 roles throughout his career. He has performed in numerous Disney and DreamWorks animated features including Aladdin (1992), the singing voice of Scar in The Lion King (1994), Balto (1995), Antz (1998), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Shrek (2001), and The Princess and the Frog (2009). Jim Cummings will appear at Palais des congrès from July 5 to 7. Montreal Comiccon features a line-up focused on fans’ favourite franchises. Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum are best known for playing Clark Kent (Superman) and Lex Luthor on the long-running television series Smallville. Montreal Comiccon will host a Smallville reunion special event, with additional guests. Georges St-Pierre is a retired professional mixed martial artist who is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, having won welterweight and middleweight titles in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His career has expanded into film, with roles in films such as Cartels (2017) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). Lana Parrilla has starred in several TV series, but is best known for her award-winning performances on Once Upon a Time. Star Trek fans are in for a treat with the incomparable William Shatner (Star Trek: The Original Series), as well as newcomers Anson Mount and Ethan Peck, who play Captain Pike and Spock respectively on Star Trek: Discovery. The Harry Potter film series is one of the biggest franchises of all time, and we are thrilled to welcome James and Oliver Phelps, best known for playing the twins Fred and George Weasley. Eliza Taylor, best known for her starring role of Clarke Griffin on the CW series The 100. Alan Tudyk, best known for his roles as Hoban “Wash” Washburne in the space western television series Firefly and the movie Serenity (2005), and most recently, the sarcastic reprogrammed imperial security droid, K-2SO, in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He currently plays Mr. Nobody on the DC television series Doom Patrol. Cameron Brodeur is a teenaged actor who portrays Young Luther on the 2019 Netflix smash-hit series The Umbrella Academy. He can currently be seen on the French-language TFO series Amélie et Compagnie. Ray Park is an actor, author and martial artist that has played several iconic characters, including Toad in X-Men(2000), Snake-Eyes in both G.I. Joe films, Erron Black in the Mortal Kombat films, and Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace(1999) and Solo: A Star Wars Story(2018). Millennials will remember running home after school to catch the 1990s sensation Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. They will be excited to meet several cast members from the early years, including David Fielding (Zordon), Karan Ashley (Aisha Campbell / Yellow Rangers), Walter Jones (Zack Taylor / Black Ranger), and Austin St-John (Jason Lee Scott / Red Ranger). As ever, comic books remain dear to our hearts. Writer and artist Kevin Eastman (co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), writer and editor Jim Shooter (Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, Valiant Comics) and artist Rags Morales (Identity Crisis, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter) will be part of this exciting edition. The poster artwork for the Montreal Comiccon’s 11th edition was created by Dale Eaglesham, best known for his work on the DC series Justice Society of America and the Marvel series Fantastic Four and Alpha Flight. Joining them will be the biggest comic book artist alley in the province with more than 100 local and international creators. 2019 Program Highlights Montreal Comiccon will have more than 200 activities over the course of three days, including panels, workshops, concerts, masquerade, improv, board games, screenings, autograph sessions, photo ops and so much more. The wide variety includes the worlds of anime, with several fun-filled themed contests; comic books, with creators showing others how it’s done; and the return of a dedicated Family Zone with activities for kids ages 12 and under, including Nerf battles and character face painting. A significant portion of the activities and displays are dedicated to video games. Montreal Comiccon is thrilled to partner with DreamHack, where the game world comes to life with a free-play area and space dedicated to challenges. At the Indie Game Zone some 40 talented Québec studios will reveal their new creations to new audiences. Also returning will be the Retro Gaming Area, where fans of all ages can enjoy games and consoles from the four previous decades, in addition to some classic arcade stations like Ms. Pac Man! Montreal Comiccon also brings music to the forefront, with several special events including a daily fun-filled Karaoke party featuring music from Disney classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Frozen,The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, Moana and more! The Film Music Wind Orchestra (OVMF – L’Orchestre à vents de musiques de films), composed of 50 talented musicians under the direction of Jocelyn Leblanc, returns with new film and video game soundtrack favourites, including Marvel Cinematic Universe (Friday, July 5), The Legend of Zelda (Saturday, July 6), and James Bond (Sunday, July 7). House of M Productions will recreate Joss Whedon’s (The Avengers) award-winning 2008 musical comedy Web series, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.
