Orchestre Métropolitain presents

Youth Spirit: Music at the Movies

Like the broom in Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, the OM will come to life under the baton of Nicolas Ellis in this cinematic concert. Soprano Catherine St-Arnaud will perform the Jewel Song, which everyone knows from Tintin’s The Castafiore Emerald adventure. The atmosphere will take a more somber turn when oboist Mathias Leclerc and violinist Eva Lesage perfom famous tunes from the films The Mission and Schindler’s List.

Joining the OM once again is Martin Carli, scientist and co-host of the popular Télé-Québec show Génial!. He explains why certain tunes gets stuck in your head and why others send chills up your spine.

ROSSINI: William Tell, Overture
DUKAS: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
TCHAIKOVSKY: The Sleeping Beauty, waltz
