Kronos Quartet – March 16, Maison Symphonique LiveEvents March 10, 2019 2822 Kronos Quartet For more than 40 years, San Francisco’s Kronos Quartet – David Harrington (violin), John Sherba (violin), Hank Dutt (viola), and Sunny Yang (cello) – has combined a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to continually reimagine the string quartet experience. In the process, Kronos has become one of the world’s most celebrated and influential ensembles, performing thousands of concerts, releasing more than 60 recordings, collaborating with an eclectic mix of composers and performers, and commissioning over 950 works and arrangements for string quartet. The winner of some 40 prestigious awards, including two Grammy Awards (one for Landfall in 2019) and a Polar Music Prize, the legendary string quartet is returning to Montreal after a 25-year absence. The program will be an eclectic one, ranging from jazz (Charles Mingus, John Coltrane) and minimalism (Philip Glass) to rock (Pete Townshend) and new Canadian (Tanya Tagaq, Nicole Lizée) and international (Sigur Rós) music.
