Co-Chairs, JoAnne Rudy Kelly, Cynthia Price Verrault and Anna Capobianco-Skipworth with Dr. Sarkis Meterissian, Director of the MUHC Breast ClinicAn enchanted evening in support of breast cancer research and treatment The Montrealer December 31, 2018 6420 Enchantée It was the best kind of evening out, a chance to dress up, mingle, eat, drink and support a cause close to the hearts of many Montrealers – breast cancer. Indeed, more than 200 guests donned ties and heels to attend the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Foundation’s second annual Enchantée cocktail dinatoire on October 18 at Le Mount Stephen. The event was co-chaired by volunteers Cynthia Price Verreault, JoAnne Kelly Rudy, and Anna Capobianco-Skipworth. It was held in collaboration with the Cedars Cancer Foundation. The proceeds of the event, together with recent pledges of support from the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation and the CURE Foundation, total $600,000. The funds will support the MUHC Breast Clinic Wellness and Survivorship Programs. “The Breast Clinic cares for 15,000 women per year, and it is a referral centre for women across Quebec,” explains Dr. Sarkis Meterissian, Director of the MUHC Breast Clinic. “In addition to the exceptional care women receive, these programs provide prevention, treatment, psychological, and rehabilitation services, including highly-specialized lymph edema care.” Dr. Meterissian said that while the MUHC Breast Clinic has achieved a “90% cure rate – more follow-up treatments need to be done in exercise therapy, working with dieticians, body image – and taking care of the whole person. The funds raised tonight will help towards these treatments.” Emcees Leslie Roberts from CJAD and Brigitte Bédard from TVA/LCN entertained guests throughout the evening. “Once again, the continued generosity of our donors and the dedication and commitment of our Co-Chairs made Enchantée a tremendous success,” says Julie Quenneville, MUHC Foundation President. “We cannot thank them enough for supporting the patients and their families in the fight against breast cancer.” Blair Griffiths with her mom, Rae Turley Cynthia Price Verrault and Joanne MacPhail Richard Hart with MUHC FoundationPresident Julie Quenneville Tony Runjaha with wife and committee member Wendy Roscoe Leslie Bronstetter and Janet Hale Yun Wang and Janet Cameron Cedars Foundation President Jeff Shamie and MUHC Foundation President Julie Quenneville; Enchantée Montreal was co-sponsored by the two foundations Westmount-St. Louis Liberal MNA Jennifer Maccarone with Cedars Foundation President Jeff Shamie and Susan O’Keefe Barbara Lewis, Anna Capobianco-Skipworth, Mary Larson and Olga Shevchenko
