Nuné Melik

Violonist Nuné Mélik submerges us into the heart of her Armenian roots and her life in Montreal with a Jean Lesage’s creation composed specially for her. With pianist Michel-Alexandre Broekaert, they offer us an opening towards a new musical culture.

Nuné Melik made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in 2016. She appeared as an invited artist at the United Nations Headquarters, as well as Merkin Hall at Lincoln Center, the Embassy of Estonia (New York), Bolshoi Hall, the International House of Music (Moscow, Russia), the Embassy of Russia (Copenhagen, Denmark), Chapelle Historic du Bon Pastor and Salle Claude Champagne (Montreal), Glenn Gould Auditorium, Toronto Arts Centre (Toronto). In 2010, Nuné founded the ‘Hidden Treasure International Project’. It comprises research, performance, and lectures of the rarely heard music. As a specialist in music of the Caucasus, she has performed and lectured on this in venues like Columbia University (New York), Wayne State University (Detroit), University of Arizona (Tucson). In October 2017, Nuné has launched a “Hidden Treasure” CD recorded at the Yamaha Artist Studio in New York and McGill University. Nuné starred in the short movie “Where is Music”, directed by Serj Gabyan. The film received the “Best Experimental” Award at the Accolade Global Film Competition (2017). Nuné is currently pursuing her Doctorate Degree at the McGill University. She plays on 1750 Landolfi Violin on loan from the Canada Council for the Arts.
