Roman Timofeev’s Piano Recital

Russian pianist Roman Timofeev has been heard in music halls throughout Europe since 2004. He has already established a reputation as “a brilliant pianist” and his performances have been described as “vivid, emotional and extremely passionate”, “charged with Russian expressivity and a shade of French elegancy (Le petit bleu, Brittany press, France)”.

While studying at The Moscow State Conservatory, where he was in the class of outstanding world-recognized pianists Naum Starkman and Ruvim Ostrovsky, Roman was already awarded the Grand Prix in Vorzel International Competition of Pianists in Kiev, Ukraine. In 2010 he participated in the prestigious competition Concours musical de France, Saint-Maur-des-Faussés, Paris where he won the First Prize. In the following year, Roman polished up his masterly performance at Académie des Artistes Musiciens in Paris under the supervision of professor Lea-Yoanna Adam. Since 2011 Roman has been a permanent member of this Academy. Additionally, Roman served as a concertmaster and mentor at The Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music for more than 10 years.

Roman has a varied musical life including activities on the concert stage as a featured soloist in various performances venues in Russia, France, and Estonia. Roman has already made his Canadian debut at the famous Aeolian Hall, in London, Ontario. Roman’s chamber music collaborations include those with the Symphony Orchestras of the cities of Ploiesti and Bacau (Romania) where he worked extensively with conductors Illarion Lonescu-Galaty and Ovidiu Balan.

Roman’s repertory embraces a wide range of musical compositions by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, Scriabine, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev. Roman is a disciple of the Russian romantic school.
