Stewart Goodyear – November 9, Pollack Hall LiveEvents November 4, 2014 3123 The Ladies’ Morning Musical Club presents Stewart Goodyear Known for imagination, a graceful, elegant style and exquisite technique, Canadian pianist Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished young artist, whose career spans many genres. He began his professional training at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, his native city, received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and completed a Master’s Degree at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where he now lives. At the core of his repertory are the 32 Beethoven sonatas, recordings of which Jed Distler in ClassicsToday called “intelligently stylish. Swift tempos, forward sweep, linear clarity, imaginative yet never mannered inflections and genuine joy in executing the composer’s volatile dynamic markings, all characterize Goodyear’s interpretations.” David Patrick Stearns of the Philadelphia Inquirer mused that Goodyear just might be “in the rarefied league of Maurizio Pollini”. In addition to his prowess as a pianist, Goodyear is also known as a skilled improviser and as a composer. He wrote his first composition at the age of eight. This is his first LMMC appearance.
