Inspired by Disney and Studio Ghibli soundtracks, Ichiko Aoba’s music creates a magical, fairy-tale like atmosphere. Weaving stories with her voice and delicate guitar, she evokes a feeling of childhood nostalgia. With seven critically acclaimed studio albums to date, her most recent opus Windswept Adan (co-produced by Taro Umebayashi) is her most ambitious work to date, incorporating strings and other instruments to her sound palette. Celebrated as a cult artist in her native Japan for years, she has recently been gaining a rapidly growing global audience who have been falling for her charms, and the world’s critical media taking notice.

At this concert, she performs her Canadian debut with a local string ensemble.
