I Gemelli Ensemble – Italian Baroque arias

Engaging in a masterful dialogue of Italian vocal music, tenors Emiliano Gonzalez Toro and Zachary Wilder present some of the finest works of the early Baroque. Voices and instruments answer each other through a palette of richly contrasting colours and expressions. This “Hall of Mirrors” creates a joyful ode to twinship!

I Gemelli Ensemble

Founded in 2018 by Emiliano Gonzalez Toro and Mathilde Étienne, the ensemble I Gemelli specializes in 17th century vocal music. Its vocation is to defend the major pieces of this period as well as lesser-known or even unpublished scores.

Historically informed, the ensemble I Gemelli plays on period instruments, collaborating closely with academics and musicologists for the development of each program.

Zachary Wilder, tenor

With a commanding vocal presence and a captivating musical finesse, American tenor Zachary Wilder emerges as an exemplary interpreter of 17th and 18th-century repertoires, spanning from Monteverdi to Mozart. His artistry has garnered demand from esteemed conductors and ensembles on both sides of the Atlantic, perfectly embodying the fervor of grand sacred masterworks and the opulence of operatic performances, with a widely acclaimed stage presence.

Emiliano Gonzalez Toro is an exceptional singer: with his technical mastery, a beauty of tone, his inventive expressiveness and a passionate love of texts, he has tackled the masterpieces of the 17th and 18th centuries with the greatest ensembles and the greatest conductors.
