Sandra Murray & Claire Ouellet, pianos

To mark the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninoff’s birth, this duo of pianists, whose long and fruitful collaboration dates back to 1993, takes the stage in an exciting program of works for two pianos.

Sandra Murray, piano

Sandra Murray pursues a brilliant career as a chamber musician and she regularly performs in chamber music concerts with well-renowned artists such as Louis-Philippe Marsolais, Andrew Wan, Jonathan Crow, Yossif Ivanov and Radovan Vlatkovich. She has performed in the Pro Musica Series, the Montreal Chamber music Festival, the Festival international Lanaudiere, Orford Arts Centre and Domaine Forget. She collaborates also for the Centre d’Arts Orford and Domaine Forget.As a member of the Ouellet-Murray duo, she recorded twos CD’s featuring The rite of Spring by Stravinski. She took part in the first international chamber music meeting in Jerusalem, working alongside Emmanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, Isaac Sterm and Yefim Bronfman. Sandra studied with Carlos Feliciati and then became a pupil of Julian Martin. She holds a Master degree from McGill University. Sandra Murray is presently a collaborative pianist and teacher at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.

Claire Ouellet, piano

Originally from Chicoutimi, Claire Ouellet studied with Carlos Feliciati and obtained a First Prize in piano, unanimously, from the Conservatoire in 1987.Thanks to scholarships from the French government and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Quebec, she studied for three years in Paris with Monique Deschaussées.

A sought-after and esteemed pianist, Claire Ouellet performs both as a chamber musician and as a soloist. In Canada, it has been heard in particular in the Pro Musica series, at the festivals of Orford, Domaine Forget, Chamber Music of Montreal, Orgues et couleurs as well as at the Festival international de Lanaudière. Soloist with several orchestras in the country, she has also been invited to play with the Granada Symphony Orchestra in Spain. She has given recitals in France, Switzerland, Germany and Czechoslovakia.

Claire Ouellet is frequently heard on Radio-Canada. She is a member of the piano duo Ouellet-Murray with whom she has recorded two CDs on the SRC/CBC Records label. These discs received international critical acclaim.

Claire Ouellet obtained in 1994 a doctorate in interpretation awarded by the University of Montreal. She has been a teacher-accompanist at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montreal since 1995.
