Music lovers are invited to attend on May 26 at 7:30pm at Montreal’s Maison Symphonique. Despite being written over two centuries ago, the B Minor Mass continues to captivate audiences with its intricate choral arrangements, soaring melodies, and deeply emotive themes. “The Mass is a perfect symbiosis of the various musical styles of the baroque era, including choral, solo, orchestral, and operatic music, which Bach seamlessly weaves together to create a unified and awe-inspiring work of art.” explains Matthias Maute, Artistic Director of both ensembles. The two groups are renowned for their expertise in Baroque music and have collaborated many times in the past, delivering outstanding performances that have delighted audiences around the world. Regularly invited to perform at major international festivals, Matthias Maute has also been guest conductor with London Symphonia, Nova Scotia Symphonia, I Musici, Apollo’s Fire and the Portland Baroque Orchestra. He has made some 30 recordings on the Montreal-based ATMA Classique label as well as on Analekta, Vanguard Classics, Bella Musica, Dorian, and Bridge labels. Founded by flutist, composer and conductor Matthias Maute, Ensemble Caprice has become a household name in the classical music world over the decades. Matthias is a respected professor at McGill University. Ensemble ArtChoral Ensemble ArtChoral is a professional choir steeped in the grand tradition of choral music in Quebec, with the mission to present professional choral music in Québec, Canada, and internationally. After having been led for nearly 40 years by its founder, Yves Courville, the choir named Matthias Maute, a two-time Juno Award recipient, as its artistic director in 2019.
