Artists Ensemble Caprice Since it was founded by flautist Matthias Maute three decades ago, Ensemble Caprice has made its mark as one of the most sought-after ensembles on the classical music scene. Caprice has gained a solid reputation for its innovative programming and vibrant, compelling performances. The musicians of Ensemble Caprice have travelled to the four corners of the globe, giving performances in dozens of countries on four continents. The Ensemble’s tours have taken its members to Asia, China, Taiwan, Africa, Morocco, Tunisia and South Africa as well as several European Countries and the Americas. Besides its international tours, the group performs a regular Montreal concert series in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ Bourgie Hall. Matthias Maute, conductor Ensemble Vocal Arts-Québec Hélène Brunet, soprano Canadian soprano Hélène Brunet is hailed by the critics as “a singer of tremendous quality” with “a voice of perfect beauty” and “sincere expression”. Recognized for her interpretations of the works of Bach, Handel and Mozart, her repertoire extends from Baroque to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Nicholas Burns, countertenor The Canadian counter-tenor, Nicholas Burns, studied music at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montréal, graduating with Bachelor of Music degree in June 2017. At Opéra McGill, he sang in Blow’s Venus & Adonis (November 2014), Polinesso in George Frideric Handel’s Ariodante (November 2017), and the lead role of King Bertarido in G.F. Handel’s Rodelinda (April 2016). Nicholas Burns performs throughout North America and is known for his “thrilling voice” (Opera Canada). Nils Brown, tenor Australian-born tenor, Nils Brown, makes his home in Montreal. He is a distinguished solo performer in oratorio, opera, ensemble, and with symphony orchestras, and is regularly engaged by major orchestras and choral organizations in the USA, Canada and Great Britain. Dion Mazerolle, baritone Acadian baritone Dion Mazerolle has earned a solid reputation in Canada and Europe as an artist of the highest calibre. A former member of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, he is acclaimed for his musical finesse and strong stage presence in both opera and concert. Program J.S.
